Working on Hyper terminal.

Hyper is a command line interface which I will use to interact with node.js. In this blog, i will be showing some of the most common commands that i came across while learning node.js.

Note: To execute commands, you must be present in the same directory in which you have your JavaScript file.

node — — — — allows you to execute codes under hyper without typing the code in JS file.

node index.js — — executes index.js in hyper.

Ctrl+C — — — — exits processor.

clear — — — — clears the console.

npm init — — — initialises NPM(node package manager).

npm install car-avatars — — — — — installs car-avatar package(a package taken from NPM site).

code . — — — — — opens the current directory in VS Code.

⬆/⬇ — — — — cycles through previous and successive commands.

cd Desktop/ — — — — goes to the desktop.

cd .. — — — goes to the previous directory.

cd ~ — — — — — goes to the initial directory.

mkdir Cup — — —- makes a new directory named “Cup”.

touch cup.text — — — — — makes a new file “cup.text” in the current directory.

start cup.text — — — — — opens cup.text.

start code cup.text — — — — opens cup.text in VS Code.

ls — — — — lists all the files in the current directory.

rm cup.text — — — — removes cup.text.

pwd — — — — — shows the present working directory.

rm * — — — — — — deletes all the files in the current folder.

rm -r cup.text — — — — — — removes the file named cup.text.

Ctrl+E — — — — — — blinker moves at the end of the line.

Ctrl+A — — — — — — blinker moves at the beginning of the line.

Ctrl+U — — — — — — clears the entire line.

P.S: The command line introduces us to the hidden powers of a UI. It gives us the full control over our system. We may meet some mishaps, erasing our entire hard drive being on of the worst case scenarios. In such cases, it is advisable to remain cautious while interacting with this interface.
